I am Nacotchtankakowan. I was born in Nacotchtank, on the river Potowmack, in the confederacy of Powhatan. My father was born in Nacotchtank and he was raised on the river Powhatan. When I was born he called me Antarah. He had read a book of the romance and adventures of the once enslaved Arabian knight whose poems hung in the Kaaba, and who, like I, came up out the womb black as blue. My mother was born and raised on the river Dan. In my youth I was set apart by God our Creator and given visions of things both past and future. And pursuant to my passing His due trials and procedures the Great Spirit commissioned me to serve the church militant in my own right and proper persona. I was restored and reverted into the confederated clan of beaver by the most merciful Grace of God in Christ our Lord. O Great Spirit A’heyeh Yahuah Yahoshua HaMashiach, in whom we live and move and have our being, we give thanks and glory to thee in the highest. I am thy most humbled and honored servant; and witnesseth: Oyez, oyez, oyez, the Lord our God is one sovereign; His kingdom is nigh at hand. My name is Dams-up-water and my medicine is strong.
